ALPINE COURSES
Snow & Glacier Course
Introducing foundational alpine climbing skills, including snow travel, glacier travel, and basic mountaineering systems. Held on Mt. Baker or other glaciated Cascade peaks, summit objective not included. Covers roped glacier travel, route finding, snow and ice anchors, and crevasse rescue. Requires prior backpacking experience and overnight camping.

Alpine Rock
Focusing on moving through “broken” alpine rock terrain (3rd, 4th, and low 5th class). Must have trad climbing experience, and complete consultation before enrollment. Instruction covers alpine movement, exposed terrain management, and efficient use of belaying and anchoring systems. Conditions are primarily snow-free, though a light snow travel kit may be required for access. May include up to two nights in the backcountry.

Winter Mountaineering
Request-based course focused on living safely and comfortably in cold-weather alpine environments, often in support of mountaineering objectives. Designed for those pursuing expedition-style climbing that involves camping on snow in cold conditions.

Capstone Alpine
Student-driven and tailored to individual goals and future objectives. Students choose their focus while practicing all alpine skills under the supervision of a trained guide, with the option to take full lead and receive real-time feedback. Objectives may range from single-day missions to multi-day traverses across mixed terrain. If ice climbing is included, students must have completed an Ice Leading or Multi-Pitch Ice course, or completed a consultation with a guide.

Interdisciplinary Course
Blending alpine rock, snow, and glacier travel in real mountain terrain, applying skills from prior programs. Intended for students who have completed the Snow & Glacier and Alpine Rock courses, though experienced climbers in both environments may be considered. Fully backcountry-based and involves camping each night.

Problem Solving Course
We recommend this course prior to any rock, ice, or alpine capstone. It focuses on self-rescue systems across disciplines, with transferable skills for rock, ice, and alpine climbing; crevasse rescue is not included. This full-day (10–12 hour) course covers essential knots, hitches, and systems for managing complex situations.
